Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Argos (“Argos,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the Argos alarm-signal platform, portals, mobile apps, and optional devices (the “Service”). Argos is a monitoring platform for independent alarm dealers and their customers, and for consumers who connect a legacy system directly. We designed the Service to collect the minimum necessary to route and act on alarm signals.
1. Information we handle
Account data
Identity and organization data needed to run your account: name, email, phone, password credentials (stored hashed), organization/dealer membership, roles and permissions, system and premises details (such as a monitored address, account number, and zone list), and billing identifiers. Authentication and org/role membership are managed through our auth and identity layer.
Signal data
Alarm and status events from panels, sensors, and Argos devices — including event type and code, format (e.g. SIA, Contact ID), zone/sensor identifiers, arm/disarm state, supervision/health, timestamps, and the associated system. Signals are logged and retained as the operational record of the account and are carried in their native format.
Contact data
Notification recipients and emergency call lists you configure — names, phone numbers, emails, and notification/dispatch order — used to alert the right people and to give the central station the information it needs to respond.
Technical and usage data
Limited operational logs, device and connection metadata, and diagnostic information used to keep the Service secure, reliable, and observable. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies; we use only the cookies/storage necessary for sign-in and core functionality.
2. How we use information
- To receive, log, decode/enrich, and route alarm and status signals.
- To notify account users and configured contacts by push, SMS, email, and/or voice.
- To retransmit signals to a central monitoring station for professional response, where a system is configured for monitored service.
- To provision, operate, secure, and support the Service and your account, and to manage dealer books and billing.
- To process payments and subscriptions.
- To comply with law and to protect the rights, property, and safety of users and others.
Where we use AI to assist operations (for example, onboarding a dealer’s account export, enriching event context, or triaging support), AI is kept out of the runtime dispatch decision path — it enriches or escalates but never suppresses a life-safety signal — and we do not use your data to train third-party foundation models.
3. How we share information
- The Monitoring Provider (central station). To provide professional monitoring and dispatch, we share the signal, system/premises, and contact data needed for the licensed wholesale central station to respond. Monitoring is resold from that provider; it handles data as an independent controller/processor under its own obligations.
- Emergency responders. When an alarm is verified/dispatched, relevant premises and contact information is provided to public safety agencies.
- Your dealer (for dealer-provisioned accounts). If your service is provided through an alarm dealer, that dealer administers your account and can access the data needed to service it.
- Service providers (sub-processors). We use vetted vendors under data-processing agreements, including cloud infrastructure (Amazon Web Services), payments (Stripe), and messaging/notification providers (for SMS, email, voice, and push). A current sub-processor list is available on request.
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information when required by valid legal process appropriate to the data type, or to protect safety, prevent fraud, or enforce our terms. We log such requests and push back on overbroad demands.
- Business transfers. If Argos is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, data may transfer subject to this Policy.
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
4. Data location and retention
The Service is operated for the United States and stores data in a single US region (us-west-1) by default. We retain account, signal, and contact data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, to maintain the operational alarm record, to comply with legal, regulatory, tax, and insurance obligations, and to resolve disputes. Signal logs may be retained longer than other data to serve as an evidentiary and supervisory record. We do not delete account data merely for non-payment.
5. Your choices and rights
Consistent with a GDPR-grade baseline applied across the Service, you can request to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and you can manage notification contacts and preferences in the app. Depending on your state (for example, under the CCPA/CPRA and similar laws), you may have rights to know, delete, correct, and to opt out of sale/sharing (note: we do not sell or share for advertising). Certain data — such as the alarm signal record and information required for legal, safety, or dispatch purposes — may be retained even after a deletion request where the law or a legal hold requires it. To exercise a right, contact us below; we will verify your request and respond within the timeframe the law requires.
6. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to alarm and contact data — including encryption in transit, access controls and role-based permissions, least-privilege access, and monitoring. No system is perfectly secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affecting your data occurs, we will notify affected users and regulators as required by applicable law.
7. Children
The Service is intended for adults (18+) and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Household members added by an account owner are the owner’s responsibility.
8. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy. Material changes will be communicated by a reasonable method before they take effect, and the effective date above will be updated.
